We have a specific aim at our school--we want to teach and to train our students to become good speakers of English.
Our program concentrates on training our students to speak English and to comprehend spoken English language. We don't teach complicated grammar. We don't lecture on language theory. Reading and writing are not a regular part of our lessons.
What makes our children's program unique is that the students are constantly communicating with the teachers, rather than learning from books or printed material. The teacher teaches conversational expressions from our original course material, leads pronunciation practice, sings songs and introduces foreign culture. We encourage teachers to use their talents and experiences in the classroom.
We have events around holidays like Halloween and Christmas with foreign guests, where we sing songs and enjoy cultural activities together. Teachers follow our method of teaching, and work with a Japanese partner in the classroom.
The special needs of our adult students is to overcome the "book learning" they had in the past, and be able to converse with a native speaker of English in a fun and friendly atmosphere.Adult classes are conversation-based. We make our own teaching material, which is simply the starting point for expanding into the type of conversation the student would have with a foreigner here in Japan, or when the student travels abroad. The teacher's patience, understanding and willingness to engage students who want all levels of conversation instruction, correction and practice are the keys to our success.
