Travel Information

You will undoubtedly want to do some traveling during your stay in Japan, whether it's to fly home during holidays, or to travel within Japan on your days off. Some periods are extremely expensive (such as during the winter vacation or Golden Week), but others are quite reasonable.

There is a good travel office in the station, located beside the Keio Store. The cheapest travel office tends to be H.I.S., which you can try online, or at one of their offices. The closest office is in Fuchu, across the street from Fuchu Station. It is across the street from the Family Mart, on the second floor.

Here are a few tips to help you out:

-As in your native country, try to book early, as prices tend to increase the closer you book to your intended travel period.

-If you plan on traveling within Japan, it would be a good idea to try to do so during your birthday month, as you are eligible for a cheaper flight during this period.

-The bullet train (Shinkansen), is a fast and luxurious way to travel around the country, but is much more expensive than a local or express train. If time isn't much of a factor during your trip, it is recommended that you take the slower, but cheaper trains. The night bus is always an option, too, and is even cheaper.

-Accommodations can be hard to book during the two weeks of winter vacation (late December to early January),
and during Golden Week (late April to early May), so it is better to plan ahead. Hostels and budget hotels are good options, but even these will book up fast.
